| Our Ministries |
At Holy Spirit, faithful members are committed to meeting the needs of fellow parishioners from the moment of conception until death. Under Fr. Jim's guidance, many ministry volunteers offer their time and talents to make this journey of faith possible for us all. Each group looks to you to find a place in their membership in order to keep the good work of Holy Spirit growing. Please take a moment to look over the following outlines. If you have a need, let them help; if you can help, they have a need. Please contact the Ministry Leader if you have any questions, or feel free to call the office.
PARISH
COUNCIL
The mission of our Parish Council is to advise the Pastor and to develop ministries, assure good stewardship and evangelization, as representatives the Parish. Should you wish to serve in any of these ministries or organizations, please contact the appropriate member of council to ask questions or offer time. A list of current representatives, along with their area of service, is posted on our East End Bulletin Board.
Altar Ministry
If you would like to serve as a Eucharistic Minister , Lector or Altar Server - or would like to bring communion to the sick or homebound, please contact Father Jim at extension 7. We have a special need for parent-participants in the Children's Liturgies. If your children benefit from this beautiful expression of faith, please call the office to volunteer a little time.
EVANGELIZATION
Jesus calls upon all of us to be His Disciples and to share our faith with each other, with non-Catholics and the unchurched. You need not be a teacher, a preacher or a Biblical Scholar to spread the Good News! In fact, sharing your faith "just by being you" is the best way to get God's message into the hearts of the hungry. Interested? Please call Shay at 838-3369 x 3 for more information about this new and exciting ministry.
RESPECT LIFE
The Respect Life Committee works to inform members of the parish about events in today's society that threaten the lives of all human beings, especially those in our own community. Be it abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia or other related topics, Respect Life keeps these events in the hearts and minds of our members and friends.
Please contact Mary Williams at 838-8808.
The Caring Ministry
The Caring Ministry
is there for prayer, visits to the sick, and bringing The Holy Eucharist to
the homebound and Nursing Home Residents of our parish family . What a blessing this ministry
is to Holy Spirit and its parishioners! Please think about how you can assist this ministry.
If you need prayer, a visit or assistance, please contact Father Jim at
838-3369 x 7
The Ministry
of Consolation
In our time of greatest sorrow, the death of a loved one, The Bereavement Ministry is there. These wonderful volunteers can assist our members in their grief; being a supportive and understanding friend while assisting with necessary planning. Few ministries are more rewarding than this and new members are most welcome.
Aramatheans - a group that, when able, attend the Funeral Masses at the parish, to show the love and support of the parish to the bereaved.
Martha Ministry - a group of volunteers willing to bake desserts,
when they are able, to be served when a family chooses to host a bereavement
meal in our Social Hall.
Ministry of Music
Our Music Ministry brings the Word of the Lord closer to our hearts. Holy Spirit is blessed to be home to three distinct choirs: The Children's Choir, The Folk Choir and The Adult Choir. Each is a gift to us all, with room for more in
each of them. Please contact Rich Druby, Choir Director at 534-5406 or come
to an Adult Choir practice one Thursday evening at 7:00pm.
Please consider having your child(ren)
participate with our other little warblers, or give yourself a chance to
"make a joyful noise unto the Lord". Our
"Sparks Choir"
choir meets Wednesdays at
4:00pm. Snacks are provided. Please phone Laura Albus at 838-6111 for more information.
The Folk Choir adds a
contemporary sound to our Liturgies on Saturday evenings. Additional voices
and/or instruments are welcome. Contact Janet Hess at 566-8854, or join in
on Tuesday evening practice at 7:00pm.
Our
Welcoming Committee personally greets, informs and assists the new members
of our parish family. If you would like to help with this wonderful
ministry, please call Mike Leonard at 838-3369x9..
Bible Study
Scripture Study takes place 4 to 6 times a year for women. Please check our bulletins for more information. If you would be interested in leading a study for men, please contact Fr. Jim at 838-3369x7.
Ministry Of Hospitality
Our Ushers are the first smiling faces that many see on their initial visit to Holy Spirit, and are there to serve our parishioners at each Mass (as well as special liturgies). We're proud of our Ushers and Greeters, and would like you to think about joining their forces, especially for the Christmas and Easter Holy Days. Please call Shay at 838-3369, x 3 and volunteer for the Mass you attend. Ladies, Gentlemen and Teens are all welcome!
Marian
Prayer Group
Mary has come to us many times and asked us to pray the Rosary for peace, to end abortion, for priests and vocations. The Rosary should be a part of our daily lives, as well as a part of our communal worship. Please check the calendar for days when we come together, as a family, to pray this powerful prayer for changes in our world, for our own intentions and for The Church of the Holy Spirit.
Contact Jim Simpson at 838-3465 (between 5 and 7pm) for more information.
DoVeS
Our Doves support group for those who are separated or divorced, meeting every Wednesday of the Month (unless otherwise noted in the bulletin) at 7:00pm. If you would like more information, please contact Steve Kristich at 838-3369, x 6.
Prayer
Shawl Ministry
Our "Threads of Hope" get together the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the Far East Classroom. If you want to get together with an amazing group of women who knit and crochet while praying for those who will receive their handiwork, please contact Rebecca Kennelly at 838-2899 or just drop in for a visit during one of their sessions.
